Hey, guys. This is the first of my realistic pieces, which I have been waiting...well, quite a while to do.
This piece has actually been W.I.P. for almost 6 months. I stopped working on it before the turn of the year, but picked it back up about 2 days ago. Decided to finish it. I'm a huuuuge fan of the movie, The Departed. Mob drama at it's best. This is Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Billy Costigan, the graduate cop who goes undercover into the world of the Boston Irish Mafia. No spoilers...but man it's a great movie. I'm not normally a huge DiCaprio fan, but I love him in this movie, so I wanted to capture that. This is a copy; I had this picture to directly reference. Still, for my first true realistic painting, I don't think it came out too badly. Let me know what you guys think. C&C Welcome. EDIT: To avoid confusion guys...I referenced a photo, but I drew and painted this from the ground up, completely from scratch. EDIT EDIT: I tweaked his chin. Looks, to me anyway, a whoooooole lot better. EDIT EDIT EDIT: I just realized how off the colors were on this. I've been balancing my Monitor around this picture...whooops. Hey, better late than never, right? |
